the title Litherl& is from either a Norse language (a original title of the dominiin was Hliterland) and its literal definition is "land on a slope." Given this title by Viking settlers in astir 900 CE. These are a super appropriate title when it describes the slope from either Hatton Hill down to the flow of any stream.

Litherland was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Liderlant, however there was there are no mention of Liverpool. A number 1 manor of Litherl& consisted of one half and 2 quarters, a areas existence Litherland including what is at present Seaforth (the half) & present day Orrell & Ford (them quarters).
